DCP Bucket List-Alumni Spring 2017

Before I did my DCP, I made a bucket list (like most do) and I wanted to see how much I completed from it. I will be highlighting the ones I have done and talk about it.

1.     Ride Every Ride!  (Really wanted this to happen. I was like two rides away from accomplishing this)
2.     See Every show! I am pretty sure I did this. If I didn’t see the whole thing, I think I at least saw ten minutes of every show. The only things I didn’t see were the circleramas in Epcot, but I’m not going to count those.
3.     Ride all three mountains in a row. YASSSSS!!!! Best night EVER.
4.     Meet every character. (This might have been my most unrealistic goal on this list considering a lot of the characters don't meet all the time)
5.     Take roommate photo in front of all icons. (lol not even close)
6.     Go on backstage tours.
7.     Go bowling in Splitsville. Twice! Loved this place.
8.     Sit in the front row of Fantasmic. Not really sure why this was on my list, bc in the front row you get wet, but I did sit pretty close to the front. This was also the same night me and Molly got thrown up on! That story will be saved for another post.
9.     Make own lightsaber. YES BISH. I LOVE my Kylo lightsaber. Talia and I always had the best battles.
10.  Drink around the world.
11.  Buy balloon on Main Street.
12.  Go to grocery bingo. (A housing event where you can win free groceries for winning bingo)
13.  Mini golf at Wintersummerland. I’m going to count this because we did mini golf at the Fantasmic course and that was awesome.
14.  Go to both waterparks.
15.  Hoopty Doo Revue. EASILY one of my favorite dining experiences and favorite memories of my whole program!!! I went with my family and had an absolute blast. The songs, the food, and the memories is something I will never forget.
16.  Try the grey stuff at Be Our Guest. (I did eat there, but only for breakfast)
17.  Get tea at the Grand Floridian. Did this with my mom and it was so magical!!!
18.  Try water art. I learned how to draw Mickey Mouse with my pan and broom and water. While I never did this in front of the guests, I think it's still pretty cool that I know how to do this.
19.  Go to Club Cool. Yes and I even stomached the Beverly. (look up a video of someone trying it)
20.  Go to the beach. Yes, three times. Once with Talia, and twice with my boyfriend and our friends. All three times were amazing.
21.  Kitchen Sink! (At a restaurant at the Beach Club resort, you can get a literal kitchen sink full of ice cream and other yummy treats. I always wanted to do this but never got around to it)
22.  Watch Wishes from the poly. RIP Wishes. Did this my first night in Disney with my roommates. We were all freaking out and fangirling and crying because we were about to work in the most magical place in the whole world.
23.  Try a Dolewhip. I FREAKING MISS DOLEWHIPS. I can't explain what it is...But it's the most refreshing, delicious treat ever.
24.  Visit all the resorts. (Always wanted to do this, but sadly never did.)
25.  Go to Universal. GOT A SEASON PASS. I never thought I’d love a place almost as much as I do Disney, but here we are! Harry Potter world is amazing and so many other rides there are so much fun!
26.  Become a rebel spy. (I’m so sad this never happened)
27.  Visit Wedding Pavilion. (I saw it plenty of times on the monorail)
28.  Eat a churro. Not as great as I wanted it to be.
29.  Try a Mickey Waffle. Somehow they’re just better than real waffles.
30.  Sci-Fi Drive In. (Again, always wanted to do this and I'm sad it never happened)
This honestly just goes to show you that you can be in Disney World for five months and still not get everything done.

My first trip to Walt Disney World was when I was nine years old. I have loved Disney as far back as I can remember, but this trip brought out something in me that I had never experienced before, a want to work for a company. But this wasn’t just any company. This was the company that granted happiness to millions and millions of people each year. When we left that magical place and I gazed out the window in the backseat of my parents van at the “See ya real soon” signs, my two immediate questions were, “When can we come back?” and “When can I work here as a princess?” Little did I know, eleven years later I would be applying for my first Disney College Program where I would be working as not a princess, but a custodian. Yes. A custodian. Not a janitor, not some lady who cleans the bathroom, a custodian. A custodian was my first choice when I applied. If you’re stumbling on this blog and have no idea who I am or anything about Disney, you may be wondering why on earth I would want ...

the custodian princess diaries p.2

That first day by myself was really weird. I didn’t really know what to do. I had my pan and broom with me. I remember the first guests I helped out with. As I was walking up to Gorilla Falls, or Pangani, as all of the cast members would call it, I was stopped by this older couple heading towards the main part of Africa. “Where is the train??” They asked me. I stopped and said, “Hmm. I actually don’t know…” I pulled out a park map, and wondered what the heck they were talking about. I said to them, “You know what, why don’t you folks follow me and we’ll find it together?” They had told us in Custodial core that we could do this, so I thought why not? And there it was, two feet away from where we were standing. Rafikis Planet Watch train station. “I believe this is what you all are looking for?” “Oh yes! Thank you so much!” They said, and they smiled and went on their way. I walked away feeling accomplished and happy that I was able to help someone, even in the smallest way possible....
